A fire sprinkler backflow preventer is a device that prevents backflow through a cross connection. Backflow is the undesirable reversal of flow of water or other substances through a cross connection into the public water system or the consumers potable water system. The state of Connecticut Department of Public Health requires all testable backflow preventers are to be tested soon after installation and at no more than twelve month intervals after that.
